About Us

Our Laboratory

The INSERM-CEA Cognitive Neuroimaging Unit, headed by Stanislas Dehaene, is affiliated with INSERM, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research. It is located in the Neurospin Center of the CEA in the south of Paris, France. Sixty researchers investigate high-level human cognitive functions such as reading, calculation, language and consciousness - using a variety of tools from psychology and brain imaging.

We are also involved in education projects that aim to serve the community. We try to use our theoretical and experimental knowledge of reading and arithmetic, which was acquired after many years of research, to improve education methods and tools. The Number Race is one of the tools we are proud to present.
